  • GENE BASED RESEARCH LABORATORIES

    The identification of the human genome and subsequent unraveling of the genetic structure of animals and plants has revolutionized scientific investigation and subsequent development.

    RED STUDIO’s specialist laboratory architect Barry Merat has been involved from the earliest days of this revolutionary endeavor having developed the initial Australian Genome Research Facility for the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for Medical Research (WEHI) – Australia’s premier medical research institute.

    The following projects detail the Genome Facility and subsequent developments. Note that these projects are primarily PC2 classified and also include PC3 containment areas as well as clean rooms:

    Once a novel therapy of potential drug has been isolated and identified extensive forward research and clinical trial development is undertaken in Research and Development Laboratories.     项目的第一阶段,是要设计一个可以供于未来发展的总平面规划。一个可分阶段进行而又不会妨碍到其它设施运作和资金流动的工程程序。

    第一阶段包含了一个新的质量管理实验室和扩展办公室空间。新的质量管理实验室,位于现有的工厂大楼内和现有的研究实验室连接着,该设计是经过了仔细分析其工作模式、污染控制要求、产品和人流运程而得出来的结果。该空间有着可提高实验室内与有关工作效率作用。轻量钢、玻璃隔墙和推拉门,用于界定与分隔出不同用途的空间。他们可提供高效率的空间; 可形上方存贮的支撑,更添加了于不同工作区的工作人员,可拥有视觉上的连接感。他们创造出一个漂亮的透明层,该设施不仅可用于工作,更是一个美丽的工作地方。

    第二阶段是一个较大的计划,其包括了建设一座新的研究实验室,新入口和门厅,扩展与装修办公室区。这项设计,我们再次使用了根据与客户小组详尽讨论和了解工作方法,以及该大楼的活动流动为概念组合而成。

    为了避免实验室区内的互相污染情况,所以必需把实验室区内,分成根据食物种类的研究小组工作室。每个实验室都是自给自足的,其拥有专用设备,如排烟橱与其它提炼设备, 以及办公室。如第一阶段,使用了玻璃隔墙分隔的空间,可给予使用者一种宽堂空间和强调一种学院的感觉,更是一种与工作环境连接的设计。实验室设计中的一个特点,就是其利用了透气烟囱引入自然日光入室内深处,以及可助于自然通风的用途,还让两层高的实验室视觉上连接起来。

    新设计是故意令通过入口和门厅的访客看见新的实验室。这样是为了令他们可以看到新实验室素质,和让他们自己观察到森馨研究的重要性和优秀成绩。相对地,科学家们会与实验室前的活动产生联络,而创造一间据动态的门厅和显示实验室过程现场展览。
